Guest Lecture on Modular Construction and Offsight

Andrew Xue delivered an insightful guest lecture to my Construction Scheduling and Resource Optimization class. The presentation on offsite/modular construction and Offsight provided our students an opportunity to learn about the future of construction and emerging cutting-edge technology that can help create an optimum environment for broader and more effective use of modularization!

ASCE JME Fall 2024 Editorial Board Meeting

CII RT-421 Kickoff Meeting

Dr. Choi lead CII Research team (RT-421) hybrid kickoff meeting in Austin, TX. Over the next two years, this team will develop an innovative, clear, concise, and complete industrial modularization implementation and advanced planning guide to advance current modular industrial project planning, design, and execution to the next level.

Dr. Choi attended the CII 2024 Annual Conference and the Modularization CBA annual F2F meeting in San Diego, CA.

2024 Spring

ASCE CRC & CI 2024 Joint Conference

Amrit and Sibgat delivered two presentations and two posters, and Dr. Choi moderated two sessions at the ASCE’s CI & CRC Joint Conference in Des Moines, IA. Many academics attended the presentations and stopped by the posters.

World of Modular 2024

Dr. Choi successfully delivered a presentation titled “Smart Technologies for Modular Buildings” at the 2024 World of Modular Annual Convention & Tradeshow, Orlando, FL, on March 19, 2024. About 60 practitioners in modular construction were in my session. Received many good and positive feedback from them.

Offsight Guest Lecture

CII Webinar

Dr. Jin Ouk Choi, the principal investigator of RT-396, explained the team’s findings in detail and demonstrate its three tools through the CII webinar entitled “Introducing and Demonstrating RT-396’s Modularization Business Case Analysis Tools.”

Dr. Choi, with his colleagues, delivered a presentation,” Modularization – Are You Experienced” at CII Annual Conference 2023.

2023 Outstanding Leadership Award

Dr. Choi received an outstanding leadership award from the Korean-American Construction Engineering and Project Management Association on June 27, 2023, during their annual meeting.

2023 Modular Building Fellow Award

Dr. Choi received the 2023 Modular Building Fellow Award from the Modular Building Institute (MBI) at the 2023 World of Modular Conference, which had over 1,500 registrants, on April 1, 2023, held in the Bellagio Hotel, Las Vegas, NV. The Modular Building Fellow Award is awarded for leadership, contribution, and commitment to modular construction, recognizing a professor each year that has contributed to advancing commercial modular construction through education and research. MBI stated that they named Dr. Jin Ouk Choi as their 2023 Modular Building Fellow considering his work at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, in the classroom and lab, his papers and research on modularization, hosting of conferences, his new book, and his support of MBI and the industry, in general. Five PMCEL students also received the World of Modular Scholarship.

Dr. Choi’s First Book on Modularization has been Published

Dr. Choi’s new book on modularization has been published by John Wiley & Sons.

Dr. Choi delivered a keynote presentation, Fundamentals and Development Directions of Industrial Modularization, at the 2022 Hyundai Engineering Technology Conference (in Korean).

Dr. Choi Delivered a presentation to the Urban Land Institute (ULI) and the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Las Vegas groups on Modular Construction in the U.S. and Las Vegas

2022 Summer

The 9th International Conference on Construction Engineering and Project Management

Dr. Choi co-hosted the 9th international conference on Construction Engineering and Project Management. Two hundred sixty people attended the conference. The attendees came from 12 different countries and 78 different cities. Among 231 abstracts and full papers submitted, 162 of them were presented/published in the proceedings.
