About the Lab Director
Dr. Jin Ouk Choi is an Associate Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Construction at UNLV. He has been teaching Engineering Economics, Construction Scheduling, and Modular Construction at UNLV since 2016. Dr. Choi has extensive research and industry experience in Construction Engineering and Management, Modularization, Standardization, and Automation. Since starting at UNLV in August 2016, he has secured $3.8M from reputable funding agencies such as the National Science Foundation, Construction Industry Institute, Department of Energy, and Tesla. Choi has published over 100 journal papers, conference papers, technical reports, and tools. He is an associate editor of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE)’s Journal of Management in Engineering (JME). He is also the lead guest editor of ASCE JME’s Special Collection on Modularization and Standardization Strategies in the Construction Industry. He is a recipient of the 2023 Modular Building Fellow Award and Co-author of the Book “Modularization: The Fine Art of Offsite Preassembly for Capital Projects,” published by Wiley in 2023.
